CCI Cyber NOVA NODE

CCI will ensure Virginia is recognized as a global leader in secure CPS and in the digital economy more broadly for decades to come

In the next decade, Opportunity@Work aims to enable at least 1 million working adults in America to translate their learning into earning – generating a $20 billion boost in annual earnings. Their mission is to rewire the U.S. labor market so that all individuals Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) can work, learn, and earn to their full potential.

FastForward
FastForward is a grant-funded training program hosted through Virginia’s Community Colleges.
They want to know what your needs are – from the kinds of training and certifications required to the kind of candidate you are looking for. From there, they attract people to enroll in workforce training programs aimed at earning industry-recognized certifications and licenses for a wide variety of in-demand careers.

Capital COLAB
The Capital CoLAB’s Employer Signaling System (ESS) combines labor market information with employer insights and educator feedback to develop and refresh the knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials (KSACs) needed for entry level IT roles in the Capital Region.

NS2 Hire Our Vets
NS2 Serves is a nonprofit organization that provides free IT training and employment assistance to Veterans. The three-month intensive program provides students at all technical levels with world-class software solutions training and certifications for a variety of well-paying careers with U.S. national security and commercial enterprises.

Onward to Opportunity
Onward to Opportunity is designed to build awareness of the soft and hard skills necessary to succeed in different industries while also making the crucial first connection with employers in these industries that are eager to hire veterans. Participants work one-on-one with a Transition Specialist from Hire Heroes USA to refine their resume, practice for interviews and receive additional coaching on how to start a successful career.

Learn How You Can Launch an Apprenticeship

Greater Washington Apprenticeship Network

The Network’s mission is to help employers in the Region explore and develop an apprentice-based model of recruitment and training. Apprenticeships offer an opportunity to “earn and learn,” meaning that employees receive needed on-the-job training while still earning a living.

 

DOLI Registered Apprenticeship Network

The Virginia Registered Apprenticeship program is an employment training model that produces highly skilled workers to meet the demands of employers competing in a global economy, through a combination of on-the-job training and related technical instruction. It is a “win-win” approach to workforce development for apprentices (employees) throughout the Commonwealth.

 

CivilianCyber

This program combines a one-year apprenticeship program with in-depth competency-based, online cybersecurity training. This structured, self-paced training program aligns with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education and covers areas such as Foundations of Cybersecurity, Data and Access Controls, and Cyber Defense.

George Mason University offers affordable housing for the summer so that interns can join from across the nation. This program is open to all interns, regardless of their connection to George Mason. Refer them here to give them the option of staying in campus housing.

DATA Commuting Program

Our area’s average driver lost 155 hours of productivity last year because of traffic, which cost the local economy close to $4 billion dollars. DATA works with employers to offer sustainable commute options to their employees. In addition to reducing employee stress levels, employers tell them having multiple commute options is an attractive benefit when recruiting employee candidates.

 

Fairfax County Commuter Services

Fairfax County Commuter Services (FCCS) is a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program that advocates alternatives to drive-alone commuting for residents and employees in the County. Volunteer roles at CORE encompass a range of roles from teaching computer skills and career development, to helping behind the scenes with computer refurbishment, data support, office administration, events, or grantwriting—there’s something for everyone at CORE.

 

Cornerstones

For nearly 50 years, Cornerstones has been helping neighbors in need overcome tough economic times in an already high cost-of-living region. The service area of Cornerstones has grown to include most of northwestern Fairfax County. Each of us can become a Cornerstone and continue our history of helping people build more stable lives by connecting them to vital resources that solve their needs for housing, childcare, food or financial assistance.

 

Literacy Council of Northern Virginia

If you are passionate about adult education and helping immigrants settle into life in this region, consider joining our team of over 500 volunteers who are helping to empower adults in Northern Virginia to participate more fully and confidently in their communities. TechSet Program

The TechSet program prepares college juniors and seniors to succeed as new employees in fast-moving technology jobs through a two-month program that emphasizes work readiness, job tools and career preparation through mentorship and instruction from teaching team with real-world experience and expertise. The TechSet program is designed to be a useful add-in for students who already benefit from career preparation at their current university, or to help those who have not previously had access to career development mentorship and education.
